JOB TITLE: Distribution Manager
STATUS: Full Time Exempt

Hours: 40 Hours Monday through Friday with occasional after hours as needed.


Responsible for management of the Fleet Coordinator, Non-Fuels Dispatcher and Fuels Dispatchers. The Distribution Manager manages the distribution of products, parts and inventory. Ensures distribution staff deliver efficient operations and timely deliveries to meet performance goals. Distribution Manager analyzes existing processes and proposes improvements and new methods to control costs and enhance customer satisfaction. The Distribution Manager directs operations including transportation and fleet maintenance. The Distribution Manager manages department staff in the day to day performance of their jobs. This position ensures that department goals are met and adherence to approved budgets. The Distribution Manager is required to have extensive knowledge of department processes.


  • Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Lead and direct the work of dispatching and driving staff including hiring, training and supervising.
  • Update and evaluate metrics to assess performance and implement enhancements. Create/maintain operational efficiency metrics to include, but not limited to:
  • GP per mile (route efficiency)
  • Emergency deliveries tracked
  • Miles per gallon
  • Responsible for development of yearly budget for Department. Evaluate budgets and expenditures.
  • Supervising the company fleet/vehicle preventative maintenance program.
  • Designated Insurance Risk Manager responsible for accident prevention, investigation and reporting.
  • Coverage for bulk fuel dispatching to customers as well as all J.B. Dewar locations during regular dispatcher absences.
  • Ability to delegate work assignments, allowing supervisors to work with each of their staff to accomplish the tasks as assigned.
  • Respond to any issues or complaints.
  • Research ideal shipping techniques, routing, and carriers.
  • Work with other departments to incorporate logistics with company procedures and operations.
  • Ensure all operations adhere to laws, guidelines, ISO requirements, regulations, quality control, vendor requirements.

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Past experience in Logistics/Distribution (preferably as a supervisor).
  • Clean DMV record
  • Must maintain a valid Class C or better drivers license (desire Class B with endorsements)
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload efficiently
  • Possess strong computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Must type at least 30 wpm
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
