Job Title: Mechanical Technician III

Department: Logistics

Supervisor: Mechanical & Facilities Maintenance Supervisor

Normal Working Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (30 min lunch) After hour call outs are sometimes necessary via company mobile phone.

Base Pay: Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Primary Purpose of the Position:

Under general supervision perform troubleshooting and repairs to fuel, oil and air delivery systems in automotive, truck, farm, construction, government and JB Dewar owned equipment and facilities.

Essential Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Skilled knowledge of pump systems. (i.e. lube and fuel pumps, meters, oil controls desirable)
  • Knowledgeable in the set-up, preparation and delivery of lube and fuel tanks and related equipment
  • Skilled knowledge of mechanics and mechanical skills
  • Repairs on fuel dispensers such as hoses, breakaways, nozzles, retractors, boots, face seals, reset motors, shear valves, meters, meter registers
  • Skilled electrical and plumbing knowledge
  • Maintenance of sumps, resealing manholes, installing/repairing submersible turbine pumps.
  • Keep accurate time and material records
  • Must be able to use e-mail to communicate and document work
  • Keep JB Dewar maintenance vehicle clean and stocked with agreed upon inventory
  • Must have personal hand tools, JB Dewar will provide specialized tools
  • Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Must be able to operate a crane (company will provide training)

 

 

Required Skills:

  • Industry Certifications: Red Jacket, Petrovend, Gasboy, Veeder-Root, Healy
  • Valid Designated Operator License for Underground Storage Tanks
  • Weights and Measures certification
  • Experience working in the fuel and oil industry
  • Willingness to attend industry training and obtain certifications
  • Install/troubleshoot/repair cardlock controls, remote tank monitoring equipment
  • Preventative maintenance inspections of fuel and lube truck pumping equipment
  • Knowledgeable in the repair/troubleshooting of air compressors and compressor electrical
  • Ability to coordinate more than one project at a time and meet established deadlines
  • Requires good verbal skills

 

Desirable Skills:

  • Valid Class C or better California Driver’s License with a clean driving record to operate company provided vehicle.  Will be required to obtain Hazardous Materials Endorsement within the first 90 days of employment
  • Basic knowledge of invoicing, inventory control, special parts ordering

 

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Kneeling, squatting, twisting, reaching, climbing, pulling, pushing, driving, grasping, keyboarding and bending down required
  • Able to lift 100 lbs
  • Required to work from heights, at times from ladders and other types of platforms
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking on (normal, uneven, slippery surfaces)
