JOB SUMMARY:

  • Developing new business and securing Share-of-Wallet opportunities through an organized approach of prospecting, qualifying, and presenting written and verbal solutions to primarily local companies.
  • Marketing fuel, lubricants, and related packaged goods to existing accounts through an organized approach of relationship development, customer service, and internal account management.
  • Identify and grow JB Dewar’s Share of Wallet opportunities through an organized sales approach of qualifying and presenting written and verbal solutions to existing customer accounts.
  • Manage the inventories of assigned JB Dewar customer accounts for bulk fuel, bulk lubricants, packaged lubricants, and other assorted packaged items at customer locations.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build a viable prospect and lead database and persist through the new business sales process to reach the key decision makers and close the sale.
  • Negotiate and close Share of Wallet opportunities with existing customer base.
  • Build and maintain client relationships at the senior level.
  • Conduct on-site customer evaluations and needs assessments to effectively create and communicate product and service value-based presentations targeted to fit customer needs.
  • Achieve quarterly and annual sales goals.
  • Manage Loaned-Equipment and other volume/margin-based agreements, manage pricing.
  • Become knowledgeable of multiple product lines of fuels, lubricants, accessories, and related equipment.
  • Maintain sales development (pipeline) reporting with current and accurate data.
  • Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to communicate account status and track pipeline progress
  • Become proficient with back-office software system.
  • Perform regularly-scheduled physical liquid fuels and non-fuels inventory for assigned customer list.
  • Responsible for continuing product and process training (on-line, on-site and off-site) as well as attending and participating in general sales meetings and business development strategy sessions.
  • Within reason, be available on most weekends and evenings to take emergency calls (from customer or employer) made to cell phone.
  • Be willing to participate in off-hours events such as trade shows, customer events, and community events.
  • Present Share of Wallet opportunities for new product sales and/or product upgrades to the customer.
  • Identify business problems as opportunities for Share of Wallet growth, and effectively present solutions to these problems to existing customers.
  • Achieve quarterly and annual sales goals based off of Share of Wallet victories and growth of assigned account list.
  • Be able to calculate fuel levels in multiple-sized tanks via both gauges and physical measurement.
  • Communicate orders for liquid fuels and non-fuel items to the customer and JB Dewar’s Fuel and Lubes Dispatchers.
  • Make customer deliveries when the delivery cannot be made on time by the JB Dewar Lubes Dispatcher.
  • Back up other area reps as needed (vacations, PTO days, out of area training).
  • Responsible for continuing product training (on-line, on-site and off-site and attending General Sales meetings and individual coaching sessions)
  • Must be able to become familiar with and utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

SKILLS:

  • Strong communication, both verbal and written. Exceptional communication, interpersonal and relationship-building.

  • Good technical, computer, and mobile device skills. Proficient with Windows, Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Typing, 30 WPM.

  • Knowledge of the agriculture industry.
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of petroleum products.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
Frequent standing, sitting, bending, lifting (up to 65 pounds), kneeling, twisting, reaching, climbing ladders (up to six feet with no platform – up to nine feet with platform). Able to read site gauges of various types from varying distances.
